Who will mourn the Sparrow?<\/b>
\nAfter all, what's a sparrows life worth?
\nHow could we measure?
\nTwo for a penny? Four on sale?<\/p>\n
With no fanfare, no prayers, no eulogy
\nNo acknowledgement they ever lived
\nTwo for a penny? Four on sale?<\/p>\n
Surely it doesn't escape its creators gaze
\nAssuredly ascending in Her tender care
\nTwo for a penny? Four on sale?<\/p>\n
Who mourns the Sparrow?
\nIts Maker mourns with a heart felt \"Welcome home.\"
\nTwo for a penny? Four on Sale?<\/p>\n

I've taken to feeding birds. \u00a0I have three bird feeders in our yard and we have enjoyed fairly diverse avian visitors. \u00a0 I find myself stopping at the window, or sitting on the deck watching them fly in and out, having their fill.<\/p>\n
Each time I find that my mind wanders to the words of Jesus in Matthew 10:<\/p>\n
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father\u2019s care. 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don\u2019t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
I am moved that the love of God is expansively inclusive enough for even the sparrows. \u00a0This is good news for some of us because we may often feel pretty insignificant too. \u00a0In a sea of humanity - so smart, creative, athletic, strong, rich, good looking, and seemingly so \"together\" - that the God-who-loves sees us too. \u00a0 It reminds us that there is always enough - more than enough - in the infinite source of inclusive, sustaining love that is God.<\/p>\n
It assures us that even the \"least of these\" (or for that matter 'the least of us') are not too insignificant to elude Gods attention. A reminder that when we fall from our sky, we fall into the safety of the waiting loving hands of our very source with a \"Welcome home!\"<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Who will mourn the Sparrow?
