Demons, Trauma and Bad Stories

Demons? I suppose in the context of this story, folks in a specific place and time, who knew little about various illnesses, physical and especially mental illness and trauma. Demons could have been the only tool in their toolbox to explain certain behaviours of a person who is really struggling.
