The following is an old Celtic prayer. \u00a0It has been called the Christ Canticle and was often a part of Celtic Christian liturgy. \u00a0I find this prayer to be a great way to start my day, especially when the day ahead could be stressful.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I appreciate the reminder of \u00a0Jesus’ word that He will never leave us or forsake us. \u00a0Moreover that Christ is closer to us, more present to us, holding us in a far greater, complete way than\u00a0I often think or feel.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Slowly and with intention, read this prayer being open to being surprised and comforted by the reality of God’s divine presence. \u00a0Nothing to hype up or conjure. \u00a0It is more like waking up, to realize what has been true all along.<\/span><\/p>\n

Christ, as a light<\/span><\/em>
\n illumine and guide me.<\/span><\/em>
\n Christ, as a shield<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

overshadow me.<\/span><\/em>
\n Christ under me;<\/span><\/em>
\n Christ over me;<\/span><\/em>
\n Christ beside me<\/span><\/em>
\n on my left and my right.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

This day be within and without me,<\/span><\/em>
\n lowly and meek, yet all-powerful.<\/span><\/em>
\n Be in the heart of each to whom I speak;<\/span><\/em>
\n in the mouth of each who speaks unto me.<\/span><\/em>
\n This day be within and without me,<\/span><\/em>
