Once upon a time, a Cave lived under the ground, as caves have the habit of doing. It had spent its lifetime in darkness.<\/p>\n

One day it heard a voice calling to it, \u201cCome up into the light; come and see the sunshine.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

But the cave retorted, \u201cI don\u2019t know what you mean. There isn\u2019t anything but darkness.\u201d<\/i> Finally, the Cave was persuaded to venture forth. He was amazed to see light everywhere and not a speck of darkness anywhere. He felt oddly warm and happy.<\/p>\n

Turnabout was fair play and so, looking up to the Sun, the Cave said, \u201cCome with me and see the darkness.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

The Sun asked, \u201cWhat is darkness?\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

The Cave replied, \u201cCome and see!\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

One day the Sun accepted the invitation. As it entered the Cave, it said, \u201cNow show me your darkness.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

But there was no darkness!<\/p>\n

What a wonderful story of the power of light.\u00a0 It shows us that darkness, no matter how dark, is only really the absence of light.\u00a0 When light comes into darkness, the dark is dispelled.\u00a0 Darkness flees in every direction upon the coming of light.\u00a0 The night retreats from the rising sun, the monsters hiding under our bed are vaporized with a night light, and the shadow of a lie is dispelled in the light of truth.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the same way, hate, loneliness, and fear are only the absence of the experience of love.\u00a0 As we experience love, just like light, it dispels this thick inner darkness.\u00a0 The hopelessness of depression is overcome with the experience of love bringing with it new hope, new perseverance, and peace.\u00a0 The fear of rejection and failure are disarmed and set running by the unconditional accepting embrace of the perfect love of God.<\/span><\/p>\n

The sunrise of Easter resurrection dispels the deep darkness of sin and death.\u00a0 Even still many of us find ourselves intimidated by the threat of this kind of darkness and need a friendly reminder that the light of the world has overcome the darkness!\u00a0 The good news is the light Himself, the person of perfect love dwells within us so wherever we go, whatever we face, we do so in the confidence of the light and the love of God – a light that can never be extinguished!<\/span><\/p>\n
